Annette Bopp

I retired in May of 2021 after 32 years of teaching Mathematics with the last 20 years at the high school level.  I was named Magnolia High School’s teacher of the year in 2007-2008 and 2016-2017 along with Teacher of the Month for Magnolia ISD in April 2021.  As the Mathematics Department Chair, I obtained extensive knowledge of the TEKS for the various mathematics courses.  I have the ability to determine what skills a student may need remediation in to help them be successful.  My specialty is being able to break down even the most difficult topics so the students can not only understand how to do them but why and when to use each skill.

In 2007 I was honored to be selected to be included in the 26th edition of Who’s Who of American Women where I was recognized as one of the few women in Texas for my work in education.

I taught AP Calculus AB for 16 years with 82.0% of my students passing the AP Exam while 71.8% of them earning 4’s and 5’s.  I taught AP Calculus BC for 11 years with 96.8% of my students passing the AP Exam with 90.9% of them earning 4’s and 5’s.  My students consistently scored above both state and global averages in all categories.

My former students have said my love and passion for Mathematics is contagious.  This is something I hope to instill in each of the students I work with.  I believe this can be achieved by helping them make the connections from what they are currently learning with what they have learned before.  This can help them see the beautiful picture of Mathematics!

In working with advanced students, I have found that many have been able to succeed with very little effort.  They watched the teacher in class and easily earned their A.  Eventually they are challenged by a class, possibly Algebra 2 or Calculus, and their natural ability is not enough.  I have helped many students get over the proverbial “wall” and learn how to study for their math class so they can continue to be successful now and in the future.
